Six gites, with heated swimming pool, in four acres of grounds in a quiet rural setting on the edge of the village of Chevrette in the South Vendée.
The village is situated between Luçon and Fontenay le Comte and is 30 minutes from the beaches and 35 minutes from La Rochelle.

Residential Cookery courses

Les Boulins

Large family sitting room with impressive stone fireplace, television and DVD player.

Spacious kitchen / dining room equipped with gas cooker, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, coffee maker and food processor.

The ground floor rooms benefit from central heating in the winter months and the bedrooms have independent electric heaters.

On the first floor are five ensuite bedrooms; three with double beds and two with twin beds.

Private terrace at the front of the house and another at the back with access to the swimming pool area with barbecue and garden furniture.

On the first floor there is a double bedroom, a twin bedded room and a children’s dormitory room with bunk beds and a single bed.

Bathroom with WC and a shower room with WC.

The kitchen opens onto the south facing courtyard where there is a garden furniture and a barbecue.

Outside

The swimming pool, 12m x 6m with Roman steps at one end and underwater floodlighting for midnight swims, is salt water treated.

The pool is open and heated to between 26° and 28° from May 1st to the end of September.

The large sun terrace is surrounded by herbs and is lit on summer evenings for late night swims.

There is also an unsupervised play area for children.

The games barn has table tennis, table football and darts.

There is a bouledrome for playing boules and our fields are ideal for ball games.

Cookery courses

From October to June the owners run the following cookery courses:

French cookery courses - Traditional French cuisine, simple farmhouse cookery and straightforward recipes from the coast.

Gap year cookery courses - Learn basic cookery skills and essential safety and hygiene in the kitchen with a range of recipes from simple catering for one to meals to feed a house full of students or a chalet full of hungry skiers.

Art studio

We have a specifically designed, large, well lit artists studio on site that is available for individuals or groups to hire.

Local area

La Boulinerie is peacefully situated on the edge of the village of Chevrette, part of the commune of Nalliers in the South Vendée.
Equidistant between Luçon and Fontenay-le-Comte, Chevrette is within the regional park of the Marais Poitevin, known as "The Green Venice".

In Nalliers there is a bakery, three bars, one with a restaurant, a post office, a small supermarket (open Sunday morning), doctors, dentists, hairdressers and two banks.

Luçon is the nearest big town with all facilities.

Golf - there are 5 courses within one hours driving.

The Atlantic coast with miles of glorious beaches is only 30 minutes away.

The theme park of Le Grand Parc de Puy du Foy stages evening shows throughout the summer.

Indian Forest - 30 minutes - is an adventure playground for children and adults alike.

La Rochelle - 30 minutes - for shops, restaurants, the Old Port and the nearest airport.

The Ile de Ré has fantastic beaches, cycling routes and excellent restaurants.

Marais Poitevin - a network of canals that have been dug from the marshes where you can take a guided tour or hire flat bottomed boats or canoes to explore the waterways known as La Venise Verte (the Green Venice).

Neither bath towels nor beach towels are provided.

Cots and high chairs are available (please reserve when booking).
Baby sitting by English speakers is available on request.
