Le Mas des Cyprès is 5 minutes from the Lot valley, 30 minutes from the pretty bastide village of St Cirq Lapopie and 40 minutes from the Dordogne valley and Rocamadour. Toulouse is 1 hour 20 minutes
away and the Mediterranean with its lovely beaches just 2.5 hours. A pretty stone former farm workshop which has been tastefully renovated. It sleeps 4-6 people in a mezzanine double bedroom, a smaller twin room and a double sofa bed in the living room. Entrance is via the central courtyard into a private covered terrace with wicker furniture, perfect for a relaxing breakfast and pre-dinner drinks. The kitchen is well-equipped with built-in oven and hob, larder fridge with freezer compartment, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and coffee percolator. An iron and ironing board are also provided. There is access to a shared washing machine. All crockery, cutlery and linen are provided. The living room has a large fireplace with a wood-burner and comfortable seating. The dining table seats six and there is a wide-screen television with French and English Freeview channels and radio. A corner staircase leads to the two upstairs bedrooms: a double mezzanine bedroom off which is a smaller twin room with fantastic views over the surrounding hills. The downstairs shower room has a wall-in shower, basin and WC. All bedding and towels, including pool towels, are provided. There is gas central heating for winter months. |

Outside The private south-facing terrace is well equipped with a barbecue, wooden table, chairs and a parasol. This gite is on one-floor bar the stone bedroom, which is accessed down a few steps. Entrance is from the central courtyard into the large open-plan living/dining room with corner kitchen. All bedrooms and the shower room are accessed via this large living area. There is a double sofa bed in the living/dining room. A side door leading to a private south and west facing terrace. The kitchen is fully fitted and well-equipped with a built-in oven and hob, larder fridge with freezer compartment, microwave oven, washer/dryer, toaster, kettle and expresso machine. An iron and ironing board are also provided. All crockery, cutlery and linen are provided. The kitchen is separated from the living and dining areas by an oak bar with two bar chairs. The large living area has a fireplace with insert, a dining table for six and comfortable seating. There is a wide-screen television with French and English Freeview channels and radio. Also provided
are a hi-fi system and DVD and video players. The double bedroom has views to the garden, pool and surrounding hills and is equipped with ample storage. The large stone twin room has a door to the courtyard, a sofa and ample storage. Both bedrooms have a hairdryer. The twin beds can be joined to form a large queen size – please advise of your needs at the time of booking. The shower room has a walk-in shower, basin and WC. All bedding and towels, including pool towels, area provided. The outside terrace has a barbecue, wooden table, chairs and a parasol. It offers spectacular views to the pool, surrounding hills and sunsets. |

Grounds There is over 2.5 acres of private garden to explore and enjoy as well as the private terrace, pool and surrounding sun terrace. There are many established trees including many fruit trees, such as cherry, apricot, nectarine, pear, apple, fig and greengage. There is ample private parking. There is a children’s area for children aged 3-8 with a chalet, sandpit and swings and a boules set. The pool and surrounding terrace are shared between the two gites and the owners. |

Local area Rocamadour - voted the second most beautiful village in France is built on three levels into the side of the hill. The village includes a castle, chapel and beautiful village street all linked by steps and a lift. Nearby you’ll find:
Dordogne - discover the medieval town of Sarlat and visit the numerous chateaux in the Dordogne Valley. Aveyron - visit the pretty riverside town of St Antonin, the historic bastide of Cordes and awe-inspiring Aveyron gorges. Toulouse - the 'pink city', so-named because of the colour of the local stone used to build it, is definitely worth a visit. Direct trains are available from Cahors and take 1 hour 20 minutes if you’d like to avoid the drive. Carcassonne - the beautiful, old, fortified city is fully intact and gives spectacular views over the valley. Golf - there are a number of impressive golf courses within a 40 minute drive which are open all year round. The Souillac Country Club is one of the most popular with its 18 hole course and a practice putting green. Others include the 'Golf de Montal' and the 'Golf de Roucous' both of which have 9 hole courses and practice putting greens. Fishing - carp fishing is very popular in this area and the river Lot is teeming with fish. Weekly permits are available. Canoeing - there are numerous places to hire canoes in the surrounding valleys. Horse-riding - there are a number of horse-riding stables in the area. All offer hourly or daily rides through the stunning local scenery. Paragliding - this is available at a number of sites in both the Lot and Dordogne valleys. Tennis - most villages have tennis courts, which may be hired by the hour. Swimming - Cahors has a spectacular water park alongside the river Lot with water slides. Flying - take a flight over the valleys for amazing views. Whether you prefer walking or cycling, there is a huge choice of trails all taking in the breathtaking scenery. There are also organised walks.
