Charming, traditional 300 year old independent Berry cottage perfect for a relaxing, tranquil holiday. Ideal base for visiting chateaux, Futuroscope and Brenne Regional Park. Situated halfway between Tours and Chateauroux in a small hamlet in the Indre (36).

Accommodation

All the accommodation is located on the ground floor of an independent cottage, making this ideal for those who find stairs difficult.

The spacious salon has been decorated and equipped to provide a relaxing and comfortable environment but retaining the charm of a traditional cottage.

There is a good supply of books (English and French), regional guides and maps with suggested routes etc plus and indoor games as well as an excellent ‘home cinema’ DVD system and CD player.

The compact kitchen is well equipped with larder fridge, gas oven with 4 rings and a microwave combination oven/grill. You will find some cooking essentials already available (oil, herbs, etc). A freezer, washing machine, iron/ironing board is also available for your use.

The main bathroom and separate toilet is situated just off the kitchen.

The Rose bedroom is accessed from the salon and has a double bed plus all the storage you need for a comfortable holiday.

The Blue bedroom has twin beds and an en-suite bathroom and as you can see from the photographs it also has hand painted furniture and both bedrooms are equipped with multi speed ceiling fans. The room has its own access to the terrace.

If required there is a sofa-bed in the salon There is also a folding cot for a baby / toddler.

Outside

The cottage clients have exclusive use of a large pleasant enclosed garden partly shaded by the two majestic Plane trees which provide lovely respite from the afternoon sun and an ideal spot for enjoying the holiday blockbuster or a relaxing aperitif in the evening.

The terrace provides a comfortable setting for breakfast ‘al fresco’ or supper under the stars (and what magnificent stars they are with no light pollution to spoil the effect of the Milky Way).

There is a fully equipped barbecue available, and an additional shaded terrace that catches the sun until late evening. See presentation on owners website.

Parking isn’t a problem as there is a dedicated parking area next to the cottage.
 

Local area and activities

The small hamlet of Le Breuil aux Gittons has 33 houses and is 5 minutes from the nearest town of Chatillon sur Indre where you will find supermarkets, bakers, butchers, newsagents, post office, banks, café and an excellent restaurant.

Chatillon also has an excellent modern leisure pool with slides, sauna and Jacuzzi.

20 minutes north is the town of Loches with its tower and chateau. Every Wednesday and Saturday morning there is a large market selling all the wonderful bounty of France – from superb cheeses to fresh fish, charcuterie to tempt your palate and the freshest of fruit and vegetables. Buy a coffee from any of the pavement cafes and you have unlimited opportunity to sit and watch the world go by.

30 minutes south is the Regional Park of the Brenne, an area of lakes and ponds which beg to be explored, either on foot, bicycle or horse. (There are 3 bicycles at the cottage for you to borrow).

There are 2 golf courses nearby – Loches to the north and Villedieu sur Indre 30 minutes to the south. Website details (in English) are available on request from the owners.

Further afield are the Chateaux of the Loire and the main problem is deciding which to visit during your stay! They all offer the visitor something different, so choose carefully.

Amboise is 90 minutes away and was the final home of the genius that was Leonardo da Vinci. It is possible to visit La Clos Luce which houses a museum and replicas of many of his famous inventions. There is also a very large Sunday morning market along the river.

Poitiers is about 1 hour west and here you will find Futuroscope – home of the moving image. You can spend the day there, or go in the afternoon (after 5) and stay for dinner and the fireworks.

Paris is under 3 hours away.

Local airports serving Le Breuil are Tours or Limoges.

We provide a small ‘welcome pack’ of food essentials (bread, milk, tea, coffee, ham, cheese, bottle of local bubbly) and will be happy to purchase anything else you need for your arrival.

The owners can also provide a meal on arrival if requested.

All linen and towels are provided.

We can provide a good quality breakfast if you wish – details and price on request.

We do not ask for a security deposit on the basis that our guests are honest and trustworthy and will notify us of any damage before they leave.

Sorry, we are unable to accommodate any pets.
